  • Get to know each other

Objectives & Goals:

  • Make a team of three
  • Come up with a team name
  • Take a team picture and upload it on the website

Meeting Times:

  • 1/12/2012 for an hour

Week Two 1/16-1/20:

Purpose:

  • Work on the Logic Gate Lab

Objectives & Goals:

  • finish the lab and get familiar with boolean logic

Meeting Times:

  • 1/16/2012 for about two hours

Thoughts:

  • We all had our parts done besides one of my group members.  He ended up doing his part at the meeting when we were supposed to all have it done and he did it wrong so me and Susan fixed his mistakes.  It was annoying because he said he did it but he didn’t.

Week Three 1/23-1/27:

Purpose:

  • Work on a simple application in Visual Basic

Objectives & Goals:

  • finish the application  “Animal Fun For Kids & Name Your Poison”

Meeting Times:

  • 1/23/2012 for about two hours
Thoughts:
  • I was really impressed with what we and the other groups did.  It made me really motivated to pursue something like this in the future and ultimately concentrate in IKM.

Week Four 1/30-2/3:

 Purpose:

  • Figure out a problem that is relevant

Objectives & Goals:

  • same as purpose

Meeting Times:

  • 1/23/2012 for about an hour and a half

Thoughts:

  • I came up with the idea of having an application that would enable students to check their dining finances.

Week Five 2/6-2/10:

 Purpose:

  • Begin working on a plan to fix our problem

Objectives & Goals:

  • learn JavaScript
  • Understand the functions of JGrasp

Meeting Times:

  • 2/4/2012 and 2/5/2012 for two hours each

Thoughts:

  • I was really excited to actually dip my feet into new territory and was eager to learn.

Week Six 2/13-2/17:

Purpose:

  • We needed to make a program and learn some programming languages such as JavaScript in order to make our JacApp.

Objectives & Goals:

  • start by making a “hello world” application in JavaScript
  • make a simple application
  • research Java and JMU Card Services

Meeting Times:

  • 2/11/2012. Saturday @ 10am in ECL
  • 2/15/2012. Wednesday @ 9:30pm in ECL

Thoughts:

Week Seven 2/20-2/24:

Purpose:

  • We decided to make the application specific to just punches in order to give us a reasonable time frame to finish the goal

Objectives & Goals:

  • start a flowchart and design home screen

Meeting Times:

Thoughts:
  • The design looks really simple and I’m glad that we decided to narrow our application goal so we don’t have to cram and rush.  Once again the same group member didn’t do much, therefore we are having a meeting with Benton soon to discuss our problems.

Week Eight 2/27-3/2:

Purpose:

  • Since we combined lab 3 and 4, it will contain two weeks worth of work done by each individual group member.
  • We have also changed our idea from using punches to transitioning to applying dining dollars instead. This is because dining dollars are a even narrower scope for our project, due to our time constraints.

Objectives & Goals:

Meeting Times:

  • February 22, 2012 for two hours
Thoughts:
  • Since we were adding lab 3 and 4 I took it upon myself to read some of the book to learn some more programming.
  • Also, we changed from punches to dining dollars which was a really good idea.

3/5-3/9 Spring Break

Week Nine 3/12-3/16:

 Purpose:

  • try to implement an RSS Feed into the application

Objectives & Goals:

  • research more on RSS feeds

Meeting Times:

  • March 13, 2012 at ECL for an hour
  • March 28, 2012 for an hour

Thoughts:

  • I got in touch with Dining Card Services and they didn’t want to help because it would be too expensive and there would be security issues.

Week Ten 3/19-3/23 and Week Eleven 3/26-3/30:

Purpose:

  • Meet with Benton to help with our decision to go the HTML route

Objectives & Goals:

  • meet with Benton
  • get familiar with and download jQuery, XAMPP, MySql

Meeting Times:

  • 3/21/23 for an hour and a half

Thoughts:

  • I was kind of irritated at myself because throughout the whole semester  I was wanting to switch to HTML, but didn’t want to mess up the groove of things.  It all worked out in the end so I wasn’t that upset.

Week Twelve 4/2-4/6:

Purpose:

  • Research and write the finishing touches on the prgram

Objectives & Goals:

  • individual tasks were given to do and be added to program the next time we meet

Meeting Times:

  • 4/5/2012 for 2 hours

Thoughts:

  • I really got the hang of HTML and it’s language.  I was fairly impressed with myself because I figured out to change the background image, color, add drop down list, a redirecting link.
  • Me and Susan met for 2 hours. The same unhelpful group member was nowhere to be found.  We texted him and saw him the next day and he didn’t say a word to us.

Week Thirteen 4/9-4/13:

  Purpose:

  • tweak the application

Objectives & Goals:

  • try to upload the application onto phonegap.com

Thoughts:

  • I was rather lazy this week therefore I did minimal work on the application. (end of the semester laziness)

Week Fourteen 4/16-4/20 and Week Fifteen 4/23-4/27:

Purpose:

  • Meetup one last time to add everyone’s individual tweaks into one big application.

Objectives & Goals:

  • figure out who is presenting what in the presentation

Meeting Times:

  • April 23, 2012 for an hour

Thoughts:

  • Me and Susan once again did majority of the work.  The same unhelpful group member contributed no coding to the application.  I was mad because the day before we were supposed to present  He asked for my help for the first time all semester regarding the coding.  Why now when it’s the last week of classes?  Almost every meeting we had he was on Facebook and not writing code.  Also, he didn’t download any of the necessary components in order to write the code (jQuery, xampp, MySQL, ect.) because the last week of classes he wanted to see my laptop to see how to download those programs.
